Using Task-Based Approach in Improving the Students’ Speaking Accuracy and Fluency

I’ve read about journal entitled Using Task-Based Approach in Improving the Students’ Speaking Accuracy and Fluency by Munirah1 & Muh. Arief Muhsin2. This journal told about how to improve students’ speaking fluency and accuracy using task based. This research used class action research approach. From this research i learned that one of the problem in TEFL was the teaching method, and became worse because both the teacher and the students frequently used Indonesian language during the class. It made the students couldn’t practice their skill in speaking.
Task based learning focused on the used of language naturally in pairs or group work. In Task-based approach learners have to participate, communicate, and cooperate when carrying the task. The task might be an activity from the course book that was intended as practice of a language point or an activity from a supplementary source. The teacher sets up the task and observes students as they get on with it. The teacher should note down errors but not correct them during the activity.
There are three component of task based, the first is pre-task, in this process the teacher presenting the task, help the students learn about the words and phrases related to the task and give suggestion or motivation to students. The second is task cycle, this stage was a good opportunity for students to use english language in pairs or group work. The last is language focus, in this stage the learners has the opportunity to repeat performance of the task, encourage the reflection of how they presented the task and encourage attention to the problem that they had when accomplish the task.
There are some things that i dont understand such as what kind of test that used in this task, and which is more important betweent the process of doing and presenting the task, or the outcome which is the improvement of speaking skill.
