SPEAKING SKILL IMPROVEMENT BY USING MOVIE AS MEDIA

The discussion shows that teaching English in the classroom will help the students to be more concentrating and learning speaking naturally. All they need is more opportunities, the more students have opportunities to activate the various elements of language they have stored in their brains, the more automatic their use of these elements become. This teaching method using movie as the media is a good way for students, because they can imitate how to speak well from the movie, and also other aspects such as culture and history. The most importatnt thing is that they will enjoy the learning activity.

The procedure of this study is started from doing research preparation including preliminary study (designing scoring rubric, selecting the strategy, and deciding criteria of success) and then planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The real problem of learning activity are students get bored because the process of learning failed to create enjoyable clasroom atmosphere, students’ Java accent influenced them when they try to speak as like as native speaker, students had low acheivement in speaking achievement.
The students will learn the dialogue, setting, value and plot from the movie and then they will be tested by the researcher using interview. In the interview process they have to answered all the question about the movie and try to develop their ideas about that. The teacher will give direct correction while they are doing mistake.
In my future class, i will use this activity as one of teaching methods that im going to adopt. I think that using movie as the media to teach is very interesting since my teacher on highschool rarely use any creative media. She used movie once, and the learning activity became very interesting. So i mind to use it several time in my future class, so that my students can learn a lot of aspects from the movie and aslo improve their speaking skill.
